These links may come in handy if a friend ever comes to you and says, 'My son set the Administrator password on his laptop, to keep the other kids out, and now he can't get back into the machine with the password he set'.

http://home.eunet.no/%7Epnordahl/ntpasswd/ - Ultimately this utility/bootable CD helped me remove the password from the account in question and restore access to the machine.

I beg to differ, some of your friends do have children, its just that they're of the four legged variety. :)
