conference call meetings - AKA: need more coffee. @ 10:00 am

Mood: displeased

I suspect that some folks will say I'm being too critical, or narrow minded, on the subject.

IMO if you are the moderator for a call and >85% of the folks arrive on time and certain participants know they are required on the call and are chronically late / forget to attend and its a half-hour meeting; wouldn't you start reaching out to them before 20% of the call was spent waiting on their arrival?

Just sayin' ...

Proactive solution: tell the prompt ones the call starts at 13:00 and tell the chronic laggards it starts at 12:30.

Punitive solution: refuse to add any newcomers to the call more than n minute after the scheduled start time, and leave it up to the laggards to face the consequences of their failure to attend.
