Boscov's double secret coupon and good timing... @ 09:57 am

Location: apartment
Mood: pleased pleased
Music: Jason snoring and the fans

Seaside 6PC Metal Seating Group

Includes 2 cushioned chairs, coffee table, 2 cushioned ottomans, and a cushioned settee.

So, about 2 1/2 weeks ago we purchased one set of these from at the local Boscov's store and made an appointment to pick it up this past Thursday to take with us up to camp. At the time, the set was $399, which we thought to be a good price.
Subsequently we realized that we had too much to do over the weekend and canceled our plans to go up to camp.

At Dave njbigbear's suggestion, I called Boscov's on Thursday and tried to reschedule the pickup several calls and a couple of transfers later, I spoke with someone. The fellow that I spoke to didn't seem to know where the items were and assured me that he would "take care of it". I was not convinced. Friday morning as Dave was heading out to work, he mentioned the patio set and asked if I had dropped by the store to reschedule. No... I made a mental note to go during lunchtime.

I got to the store and was surveying their patio wares when I noticed the new price: $249, hum they went down $150 in the last two weeks... I called Dave and asked if he was interested in another set at $249. Yes. But what if I could convince the salesperson to reduce the price on the set that we already had and purchase the second set, hum, interesting.

We lucked out, the salesperson and her manager were chatting by the register when I approached and voiced my proposal. 'We purchased a set of these [holds up placard] a couple of weeks ago for $399, would you be able to match the price. We are interested in a second set if you have one' The salesperson looked at the placard and my receipt for the first set and asked her manager, who nodded her approval of the request. The salesperson asked me to 'take a look over there' and see if there was another set available. There was.

Originally Dave and I split the cost of the first set between two debit cards. Dave was still at work and I didn't have his card... The salesperson offered to completely refund the original sale to one of my cards and then put both sets back through. She mentioned something about a coupon, which I didn't have and then said that she would be able to double the coupon's 5% off because I was buying two sets.

original purchase: $399.99 + 7% NJ tax = $427.99
         two sets: $499.98 - (secret double discount -10%: 50.00) + 7% NJ tax = $481.48
  additional cost: $ 53.49

So, we basically got the second set for: $49.81 + tax!!!

they are quite comfy!

We found a nice patio set somplete with large table, umbrella, chairs, lounge, etc, but we didn't want to overspend, seeing as we hadn't yet purchsed the site at the time.

next major purchase will probably be either a camper or a canopy for the deck, camper & site...
