The original plant was given to me by mom and dad on their first visit to the apartment May 1999. The plant got root rot and died, but before it did, I was able to successfully root some cuttings and there are about 5 or 6 siblings that are still alive.

But ... we live in an apartment! Course, we got these huge windows in the living room, but still. Maybe you just have a black thumb.

*DUCKS*

I probably shouldn't tell you this, but we live in an apartment. The living room has three windows - 4' x 3' facing South East, we're in garden apartment so there isn't much to obscure the morning or evening light. The kitchen windows two @ 4' x 3' face North West and get good afternoon light filtered through a nearby tree.

I've stacked the deck with book cases below the living room windows for nic-nacs and plants. [grin]

I would suggest a Jade or Aloe plant, they are both pretty hardy, unless you over water or over feed them. If you have pets, check to see that the plant that you choose is safe for your pet(s).

Great photographs. My Aunt calls hers a "Thanksgiving Cactus" because it blooms now. ;-)

Thanks!

Yup, we call ours the same thing.

I think that if you stress the plant, minimal water and exposure to mild cold, the plant will bloom. I turned it around last week and the side that was by the window is full of blooms. I took pictures and I'll post them in a couple of days.
