April 30th, 2008CommentsWhat I really like about M&Ms, I try to eat chocolate with oranges or OJ or lemonade, any citrus fruit or drink. I really like the combination and I eat less chocolate, M&Ms are great for this. yup, the combination is almost magical! we were at an outlet mall a few weeks ago and tasted samples from the lindt folks. they were having a sale, something like $1.00 a bar. i bought up about 15 bars and we got 6 or 7 for the guys we stay with in philadelphia. We got some dark chocolate with orange, increadibly tasty. they also have a dark chocolate with chile pepper, it has about 4 distinct taste experiences - that was truely fantastic. I don't know about the dark chocolate and chile peppers. A ton of chefs have been making desserts like that on the food channel. But you know it would be close to it's Aztec Roots. Man it must trigger a ton of endorfins. But I'd have a glass of ice cold milk ready to put out the fire!!!! I learned about the chocolate / pepper connection from a scene in the movie Chocolate. From the 1/4 square that I had at the store, I've stashed our bars away for a special occasion, there was some heat, but not all that much. I consider myself to have a slightly below moderate to moderate tolerance to chile pepper heat. I don't recall getting a tingly all over feeling, so I wasn't overtly aware of any endorphin release from the chocolate experience, but I'll let you know the results of a larger sample. ;-P I'll be sure to have a glass of milk standing by just in case. If you're ever in Toronto, stop by Soma and have a Mayan shot. This is very high quality, high-intensity chocolate with very high quality, low-intensity chili, in a little espresso/shot glass. They will put it in a bigger cup if you want, with milk or water, but that's the wrong way to do it. |
